Job Purpose
 
We are looking for a Legal & Compliance Officer to ensure that Merlin Gold operates within legal frameworks and industry regulations. This role involves monitoring insurance laws, risk compliance, and regulatory requirements, as well as implementing governance and fraud prevention policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance – Ensure adherence to South African insurance laws, FSCA regulations, and industry standards.

• Claims & Legal Advisory – Provide legal support on disputed claims, contracts, and policy compliance.

• Fraud Prevention & Risk Management – Develop and implement fraud detection strategies and ethical frameworks.

• Stakeholder Collaboration – Work closely with loss adjusters, insurers, legal teams, and regulators to ensure compliance.

• Policy Development & Audits – Draft and maintain internal compliance policies and conduct periodic audits.

• Dispute Resolution – Assist in mediation and litigation related to complex claims.
   

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

✔ Degree in Law, Risk Management, Compliance, or Financial Regulation (Essential)
✔ Certifications in FAIS, Regulatory Compliance, or Insurance Law (Advantageous)

Experience:

✔ 3+ years in legal, compliance, or regulatory roles in:

• Insurance | Financial Services | Loss Adjusting | Risk Management
  ✔ Strong knowledge of FSCA, POPIA, and industry compliance standards
   

Additional Information
